Welcome to Class 3S

 

Final Week! (12.04.19)

 

What an amazing week it has been. It all started with our visit to Cadbury World. The children learnt so much from this educational trip. They have also been learning about advertising in English as well as lots of other fun things. 

 

All that's left for me to say is have a wonderful Easter break. Please make sure you all rest! Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy!

What an exciting week! - 05.04.19

What an exciting week it has been in 3S. The children have been working hard in all subjects. In Jigsaw the children produced mini adverts for how amazing the human body is. Maths lessons have involved the children developing their understanding of all four operations and English lessons have focused on persuasive language within advertisements. The excitement continues to grow! (29.03.19)

The excitement has continued to grow in 3S. The children have been up to all kinds of exciting activities such as understanding rhythm and rhyme in poetry and solving problems using arithmetic skills in Maths. Another exciting week – (22.03.19)

It has been an exciting week in 3S. The children have been up to all kinds of fun such as performance poetry and creating their own nonsense poetry on food. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

The excitement has continued to grow in 3S as the children have had yet another week of fun. The highlight of the week was the Inspire workshop where the children had to write their own diary entry as if they were Charlie visiting the Chocolate Factory. A Scrumdiddlyumptious Topic! (27.02.19)

 

The children celebrated their ‘Wow Day’ today and what a day it was! They were able to sample different foods from around the world focusing on the food’s texture, smell and taste. They also watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory whilst enjoying some popcorn. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy!

Another exciting week! (15.02.19)

 

It has been yet another exciting week in Year 3. The children have been up to all kinds of work. I would personally like to thank all of the children for an amazing effort this half term. Have a lovely restful week!

What another exciting week! (08.02.19)

The children have been up to all kinds of exciting fun lessons this week. They have been identifying the features of persuasive texts, learning about duration of time and have even stared to produce their artwork for the Year 3 Jigsaw project. 01.02.19 (Exciting times!)

The excitement continues to grow in 3S. The children have been up to all kinds of fun and engaging activities. This week we have focused on the scientific terms permeable (water passes through) and impermeable (water doesn’t pass through). The children tested a number of rocks fairly and enjoyed learning about this. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

The excitement continues. (25.01.19)

What another exciting week it has been is 3S! The children have been learning about different types of rocks in Science. This week they have been conducting a test focusing on the hardness of rocks (the scratch test).

The children learnt about three different types of rocks- sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous. Here are some pictures of the children carrying out the scratch test.

3S Exciting Times- (18.01.19)

The excitement continues to grow in 3S as the children have been up to lots of exciting things this week. We have looked at rocks, our ‘Garden of Dreams’ and the children have learnt about different aspects of geometry. Here are some photographs for everybody to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

What a fantastic first week back it has been. The children have been up to so much!

 

Wow Day!

We started the week with our Wow Day! The children learnt about the history of cave art and even produced their very own cave paintings. They collected different twigs and leaves from outside and made paintbrushes in order to produce their own artwork. The children also learnt about the history of Stonehenge and produced a piece of artwork based on this. Finally the children ended the day by designing their own stone age jewellery which they later made out of string and clay.

 

Maths and English

In English the children learnt about the ‘zone of relevance’ where they had to decide which words were relevant to describing a cave setting. The most appropriate words were placed in the centre. The children also had further excitement in Maths where they learnt about 3D shapes and their properties (vertices, faces and edges). We used marshmallows to represent the vertices and cocktail sticks to represent the edges.

Final Week!

This has been our final week in school and what a busy week it has been! The children have visited the church, watched Times Tables Mastermind, had a Christmas party and even enjoyed a fun filled last day! I would personally like to say a big well done to all of the children. Everybody has worked really hard and behaved themselves wonderfully well. It has been a real pleasure to teach you all and I look forward to seeing everybody in the New Year! Have a fantastic Christmas which is both enjoyable and relaxing and a marvellous new year. Exciting Times- 30.11.18

 

The children have been working really hard this week in all lessons and have produced some absolutely fantastic work. Here are some pictures from today's Science investigation that the children participated in. The children discussed the term magnetism and then looked at a variety of different materials linked to this to see whether or not they were magnetic. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

Welcome Back!       (9.11.18)

 

First of all let me  congratulate the children on completing their first week back after half term. It has been yet another week of excitement in 3S! The children took part in their Wow Day which involved them investigating how different forces work by completing a number of different work stations. The children have also been completing a lot of different Science related work, looking at different surfaces and forces. Here are some photographs from the week for you all to enjoy. Fabulous Finish! (26.10.18)

 

What an amazing day it has been. The children have taken part in their 'Fab Finish' and they have experienced so much. Firstly, the children took part in a Maths Puzzle which involved them calculating how many cubes were needed to make different levels of a pyramid. They then took part in a mummification style lesson which they all really enjoyed! 

After Lunch the children participated in an Egyptian style quiz as a year group. They then practised forming different Hieroglyphics and finally ended with a dance routine to 'Walk Like an Egyptian'. It has been such an exciting day! Sadly, this is the end of our 'Tomb Raiders' topic but we will be starting our new topic after half-term called 'May the force be with you!'. All that's left to say is have a lovely half-term everybody!

Exciting Week- 19.10.18!

 

The excitement has continued this week in 3S. The children have been up to all sorts in Science as they have looked at how light travels. It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. This week the children have been working on their place value skills and focusing on how different numbers can be represented. Here are some photographs for you all to see! Have a lovely weekend everybody! 

 

TOMB RAIDERS WOW DAY- 21.09.18

The children have had yet another exciting week which was capped off with an amazing Wow Day! They started their day by discovering a briefcase from Doctor Rison. The children were given the task of finding out about Egyptian objects through looking at an excavation site. All of the children were given a different job to do whilst exploring the site.

The children then produced a report for Doctor Rison explaining what they found, where each of the items came from and how big or small each item was.

In the afternoon the children produced a sketch map of the excavation site, learnt about Egypt through a PowerPoint and decorated their front cover for their brand new topic.

The children have enjoyed an action packed day! Well done everybody!

What an amazing week!          20.8.18

The children have been up to lots of fantastic things this week. They received a 30 minute taster session of tennis which involved the children learning lots of fun skills. In addition to this the children have also taken part in a Mathematics investigation called 'Cubed Aliens'. Here are some pictures from the week. Enjoy everybody and have a great weekend! 

 

Fantastic Trip! 

What an amazing trip Year 3 had today! First 3AS experienced a magnificent Stone Age workshop where the children learnt about different objects from the Stone Age. The children then pretended to be hunter gatherers outside and produced a piece of cave art using chalk and paint. (They even made their own paint brushes from sticks and feathers).

The children then got to look at several of the exhibitions and then had their lunch. 

After lunch we visited the Science area outside and finally ended up looking at exhibitions about the past. The children had a lovely time and I would personally like to say a huge thank you and well done to all the children. You really are superstars! Have a lovely weekend everybody! This week the children have been producing lots of exciting work. In these pictures they had a go at making some Stone Age necklaces and bracelets. The children learnt about the different types of materials and resources people used during the Stone Age. The children then drew their designs before making them out of string and clay. The children have been up to lots of exciting activities and group work this week. They have written some impressive mystery stories and worked hard to develop their understanding of fractions!
