3B

We made it to the end of the year 3B! What a strange year it's been but well done for settling in so well to Broadmeadow Junior and working so hard - in school and at home. Have a great summer holiday and I'll look forward to seeing you in the corridor in September. From Miss Baines PS. I'll sort out all your books etc and leave them in your new classrooms, along with the book I bought. You can hear me reading it if you log into PurpleMash!

Playscripts - before our rather dramatic end to term we enjoyed practising reading through some playscripts in our reading sessions this week.

We had a lovely football day today! Look at what we got up to! It's coming home!

This week we learnt about crime and punishment in Norman times - the punishments were pretty gruesome!

Esio Trot

On Tuesday we went on a trip to Kings Norton Green. We saw lots of the buildings we have been learning about in History and practised our Geography fieldwork skills.

We started to learn how to program Pro-Bots. It was a lot of fun working out how to get them to draw a square.

During the last couple of weeks of the half term, 3B designed, made from clay and painted our own jewellery, based on inspiration from Ancient Egypt. Hopefully you have been able to see some of the finished products and I will upload some photographs when we are back at school next week.

I hope you are all having a good break.

Miss Baines

This week in English and Reading we have started to look at the book, The Boy who grew Dragons. We have enjoyed learning new words like 'vivid' and 'tendrils' and are looking forward to finding out what happens next, especially since we don't even know the boy's name yet! We did find it funny that his Grandad calls him Chipstick though laugh

3B made sandwiches this afternoon - we had a great time!

Good afternoon everyone,

Firstly, a massive thank you to all of the children for being amazing. I have loved working with the children and I will miss them all so much. You have all worked so hard this year and you have made your families and myself so proud. You must keep this up for when Miss Baines takes over in January! Thank you all so much for your generosity and kindness, I appreciate so much!

We have had a lovely Christmas party day and I'm sure that the children have enjoyed themselves. I have attached some photos below.

Have an amazing Christmas and take care.

Hi everyone,

Another exciting week in 3M - the week seems to be flying by and it's not too long until the Christmas break. Thank you for all your hard work this week.

The children have brought a reading book home this week. These need to be brought back in every Thursday along with the reading record. It is vitally important that you read with your child every night and thank you for your continued support.

Well done to Elm who were this week's house point winners and to Maisie and Renie who received their certificates for 10 Outstandings!

Congratulations also to Hermione and Renie who had their work put on the presentation wall.

Remember, if you have homework to hand in then please make sure it is handed in before Tuesday 15th December! Those children who have 10 homework stars will receive a prize.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Martin

Hi everyone,

Another busy yet fun week in 3M. The children have worked extremely hard and behaved impeccably.

We have celebrated Children in Need with our non-uniform day and I hope that the children enjoyed wearing their own clothes to school!

We have been incredibly busy; writing newspaper reports about the Iron Man in English lessons, learning about Diwali in guided reading and practising column addition and subtraction in maths.

This afternoon (13.11), we have been creating and designing our own mechanical monster for our DT project this half-term. The children thoroughly enjoyed this and you can see some of the fabulous designs in the pictures below!

Well done to Elm who got the most house points this week. Also, well done to Godwin and Hope who were our 'Presentation Perfectionists' this week. It was lovely to see Godwin, Elisha, Connor, Ashleigh and Jonah receive their certificates for 10 'Outstandings' today. Well done!

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe,

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all safe and well.

The children have been amazing since returning to school. Well done to you all!

Today marked 'No Pen's Day' - a chance to learn through talking, performance, ICT and teamwork.

Below are a few pictures of the children doing some performance poetry in our Guided Reading lesson!

Thanks,

Mr Martin

No Pen's Day

20.10.20

Good afternoon,

I hope you are all safe and well. Thank you for your cooperation today, it has been a slightly hectic day.

Myself and Miss Case have sent an email from the Year 3 email address detailing the home learning that will be provided for the next few days. The email reads:

Hello Year 3 parents and children!

We hope that everyone is safe and well.

Whilst you are off, we have set a few tasks for you to complete in Purple Mash.

You should have received a letter from school a couple of weeks ago containing your Purple Mash log in details. Children were also reminded to bring home their passwords before they left us on Tuesday 20th October, but if there are any log in problems, please get in touch using the Year 3 email address. When logging in to Purple Mash, remember to select ‘Broadmeadow Junior School’ and then you will be asked to enter your unique user name and password.

This week, we would like children to complete some ‘safe internet use’ tasks (a quiz and a brainstorm), as well as an English, Maths, Reading and wider curriculum task each day. Tasks for each day will be set on Purple Mash by the Year 3 teachers on the evening before.

Remember to complete tasks, save and ‘hand in’ work.

Then, Mr Martin and Miss Case will mark your work.

Good luck, Year 3!

If there are any problems then please email us at: year3@brdmedoj.bham.sch.uk.

See you soon,

Mr Martin

Good afternoon,

Another busy week in 3M!

The children have worked incredibly hard this week. We've been looking at and reading newspapers in English as well as starting to read Stig of the Dump in our reading aloud sessions.

We have had so much fun this week when looking at the wider curriculum. In Music, we have been dancing to Marvin Gaye's 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and we have been comparing it to 'Let Your Spirit Fly'. We have been using Purple Mash in computing - the children have access to this at home and it would be great to see the children using it at home. Finally, this week's art consisted of the children using smudging, blending and feathering to draw a black and white portrait of themselves. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and produced some great art work.

Your child's parents evening has gone home today. There is a reply slip if you have any comments or feedback.

Have a great weekend and stay safe.

Mr Martin

Hi everyone,

Another busy week in 3M! The children have been amazing this week and worked extremely hard. They have been having a go at some maths and English tests this week which will help us plan our future lessons. Well done everyone, get some well deserved rest!

We have also had some fun this week, particularly when listening to 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' by Marvin Gaye in our music lessons!

Well done to Ash, who, once again were house point winners. Well done to Finley and Bella-Rose who were our Presentation Perfectionists this week!

Have a great weekend,

Good afternoon,

Another busy week in 3M!

We have been busy creating characters and writing the openings to stories in English as well as learning all about the 7 continents of the world in Geography.

We have also been very creative this week. In our History lessons, we have been painting our cave art and you can see a couple of great examples in the pictures below. Also, in our art lessons we have created a piece of sgraffito art and the children have thoroughly enjoyed creating these. Again, you can see some great examples in the pictures below.

Well done to Ash who were this week's house points winners and congratulations to Murtuzah and Renie who have had their work put up on the presentation wall. Well done!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mr Martin

Good afternoon,

Another fun week in 3M! It has flown by and I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved rest this weekend.

We have been very creative this week, creating our very own 'Stone Age' cave art by carving the picture of a Stone Age animal into clay. We will paint these next week so look out for some amazing designs when the children take them home.

We also enjoyed experimenting with some sgraffito art this afternoon. This involved us using wax crayons to colour a piece of card and then painting over it with black acrylic paint. Next Friday, we will scratch this off to reveal a bright and colourful design!

Well done to Madison and Darcey whose work will go onto the presentation wall this week. Well done!

Have a great weekend,

Mr Martin

Hi everyone,

Another fabulous week in 3M! Well done to all of the children who have worked so hard this week - enjoy your well deserved rest!

I will send spellings out on Monday. The children will have 5 words with a similar spelling pattern and then 2 golden spellings as well. Make sure you learn them before Thursday's test!

Well done to Pine who earned the most house points this week. Last week's winners were Ash and they certainly enjoyed choosing a prize. Good luck to all of the houses for next week!

Congratulations to Jenny and Hermione whose work was put up on the 'Presentation Perfection' display. Each week I choose two children who have tried really hard with their presentation in a piece of work and those children win a prize. Last week's winners were Jacob and Elisha! Well done to you all - who could it be next week?

Have a great weekend,

Mr Martin

Hi everyone,

It's been such a great week in 3M. We've been remarkably busy and the children have done brilliantly considering they haven't had a full week of school in quite a few months. We've been enjoying reading 'The Iron Man' and look forward to starting Chapter 3 next week.

We've also been finding out about where Birmingham is located in the United Kingdom, experimenting with different types of pencil in art and began developing our handball skills in PE.

You should have received the spelling list for this half-term. Keep on practising as tests will start next week!

Have a great weekend,

Mr Martin

Hello and welcome to all of the children, parents and families in 3M!

It's been a whirlwind start to the new school year and it has been lovely to have a full class of children. The children have responded really well, behaved brilliantly and worked really hard this week. Well done to you all!

We have PE lessons on a Tuesday so if you have not brought in a PE kit yet, please do this on Monday or Tuesday. Unfortunately, if your child does not have a PE kit then they will not be able to borrow kit.

Also, please make sure that you bring a water bottle in with you every day.

Have a brilliant weekend and I will see you all on Monday.
