3S have been hard at work yet again! Over the last few weeks, Year 3 have been set an exciting 'Iron Age' project. In that time, there has been so much amazing work being sent in. Welcome Back! (22.04.20)

 

I hope that you all had a lovely Easter in this very difficult time! Although we're not in school it's lovely to see so many people working hard at home. Here are some fantastic pictures of wonderful work sent in! Please enjoy and keep them coming!

The last few weeks have felt very strange. I hope that everybody is safe and well. I'm sure that you're all working hard at home and looking after each other.  You are all doing a fantastic job! Well done!

The Excitement Continues! (13.03.20)

 

  What an exciting week it has been. In Maths, the children have been learning about money. English lessons have focused on persuasive letters and skills linked to this.

  In Geography, the children have learnt about how foods are imported into the UK.

The excitement continues in 3S! (06.03.20)

 

    What an exciting week it has been in 3S. The children have been working hard in English lessons. They have produced some amazing character profiles. In Maths, the children have been learning about angles and turns and are beginning to identify how many right angles make up different turns.

    World Book Day was also a fantastic success and everybody came to school in such creative costumes.

Amazing Fun! (28.02.20)

     The excitement and fun has continued in 3S this week! In Maths, the children have been learning about different types of angles such as right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles.

     Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been the focus of our work in English. From reading this text, the children have learnt important skills such as expanded noun phrases and similes.

     What a fun week it has been. Have a lovely weekend everybody!   

What an exciting end to the half-term! (14.02.20)

 

    Wow! I can’t believe how quickly this half term has gone! The children have been working hard all week on their instructions writing in English. In Maths, the children have been focusing on time.

     It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. In English lessons, the children have been continuing to develop their instructions skills. Maths lessons have focused on time and the children are beginning to read and write time from analogue clocks more confidently.

What an exciting week it has been! (30.01.20)

 

    It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. The children have started to learn about instruction writing in English lessons.

    In Maths lessons, the children have continued to focus on fractions, extending their knowledge through reasoning and problem solving activities.  

    The children have also continued to develop their knowledge of our topic ‘Tribal Tales’ by focusing on different Stone Age settlements. 

 

What an exciting week! (24.01.20)

 

     It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. The children have been up to all sorts of fun things. In Maths, they continue to develop their fraction skills through fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. In addition to this, the children have focused on fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and prepositions in English lessons and are constantly working hard to improve their standards of writing.

     The children are continuing to enjoy their ‘Tribal Tales’ project and have been learning about the role of an archaeologist. 

The Excitement Continues- 17.01.20

 

  It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. The children have been learning about prepositions and fronted adverbials in preparation for future work.

  As well as this, the children have been focusing on all four operations (+ - x ÷) and how these can be applied to reasoning and problem solving skills.

  Finally, the children have created flowers for their ‘Dreams and Goals’ puzzle in Jigsaw. The flowers have all been planted as part of our ‘Garden of Dreams’.Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

An exciting return to learning- 10.01.20

 

   This week, the children have been focusing on their place value skills in Maths lessons and the text ‘Stone Age Boy’ in English lessons.

 

   We have also celebrated the start of our new topic ‘Tribal Tales’ where the children participated in many fun activities, such as a cave art and Stonehenge lesson. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody!

An exciting final week! (20.12.19)

 

    This week has been really exciting from start to finish! The children have made calendars, Christmas cards and even took part in their ‘Fab Finish!’

    It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. The children have been up to so many different things. In English, they have been learning about explanation texts. Maths lessons have involved us continuing our focus on fractions.

    In topic, the children have been completing some DT work- making robots. Prior to this, the children had researched and designed different robots.

It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. The children have been focusing on fraction skills in Maths. In English, they have developed their narrative skills.

What an exciting week it has been. The children have been learning about multiplication skills in Maths. In English, the children have focused on skills linked to our narrative unit of work. Within our topic lessons, the children have been learning about all kinds of interesting facts linked to ‘forces and magnets’.

Exciting Times in 3S! (22.11.19)

   

    What an exciting week it has been in 3S. The children have been learning about the Iron Man in English and have started to look at noun phrases linked to this. In Maths, the children have been focusing on multiplication and division skills. Science lessons have involved us focusing on forces and magnets, as well as materials which are magnetic and non-magnetic.

What a Wonderful Week! (24.10.19)

 

    What a wonderful week it has been in 3S! The children have been learning about all kinds of fun things. In Maths, they have learnt about subtraction using ‘Base 10’ equipment. English lessons have focused on poetry and learning how to use similes and metaphors accurately.

What an amazing week! (18.10.19)

 

This week, the children took part in their 'Fab Finish'. They experienced so much. Firstly, they were involved in a mummification style lesson which focused on mummifying sardines! Next, the children participated in an Egyptian Cat Walk and dance routine to ‘Walk like an Egyptian’.

 

After Lunch, the children competed in an Egyptian style quiz. They then practised forming different Hieroglyphics and finally ended with an Egyptian Maths Puzzle.

Exciting Week- 08.10.19

   It has been yet another exciting week in 3S! The children have been up to all kinds of fun things. In Maths, the children have been learning about addition. They have been using the Base 10 equipment and have moved onto pictorial methods. 

   In English, the children continue to learn about newspapers and their features. Topic lessons have been really exciting as the children have learnt more fascinating facts linked to Ancient Egypt!

   Keep up the fabulous work everybody!    

Exciting times- 04.10.19

 

It has been an exciting week in 3S. In English lessons, the children have enjoyed producing their newspaper reports based on Ancient Egypt. Place value has been the main focus in Maths and the children have been working tremendously hard to solve different problems.

The behaviour in class has been brilliant and I would personally like to thank each child for the amount of effort they are putting in! Keep up the hard work everybody!

   The excitement continues to grow in 3S. The children have behaved so well this week. Keep it up 3S! Fabulous job!

An exciting week! (20.09.19)

 

   It has been yet another exciting week in 3S. The children have been planning a story in English using a ‘story mountain planner sheet’ and in Maths the children continued to practise their place value skills. In topic lessons the children have been learning about the Egyptian number system as well as mummification.  Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

Second Week Back! (13.09.19)

     The children have had yet another exciting week which involved them participating in an amazing Wow Day! Firstly, they were given the task of finding out about Egyptian artefacts.

After this, the children then produced a report explaining what they found, where each of the items came from and how big or small each item was.

In the afternoon, the children produced a sketch map of the area that we had explored and we learnt about Egypt through a PowerPoint.

Welcome Back! (06.09.19)

     I would like to welcome you all to the 3S Class Blog. It has been such a lovely week and the children have learnt so much.

     In English the children have been working on their punctuation and grammar skills. Maths has involved us focusing on place value using a variety of apparatus.

     I hope everybody has a lovely weekend and should anybody have any questions please do ask!
