4S

Goodbye 4S,

    I can’t believe that this is the end of an incredible journey. The last two years have really flown by. There have been so many memories. I will miss you all very much. Have a wonderful Summer everybody and whatever you get up to stay safe and look after each other.

An Amazing Week! (16.07.21)

 

It has been an amazing week. The children have been finishing off their Design and Technology work and it looks fantastic.

In Maths, the children continue to focus on Geometry and have learnt so much.

The children have also been writing their own poems using figurative language.

This week, the children took part in Sports Day. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

A fantastic couple of weeks. The whole class have been working incredibly hard. This week we have been using money and showing our understanding of change. Today we set up some shops in the class room to put our new found knowledge to the test. Well done everybody!

    The excitement continues to grow in 4S. Within English lessons, the children have continued with their diary writing skills.

    In Science, the children have focussed on measuring sounds. They learnt that the further away you are from a sound source, the quieter the sound is.

What an amazing week (14.05.21)

 

    It has been an amazing week in 4S. The children have been writing their diary entries in English, ensuring that they use the correct features in their work.

    In Maths, the children continue to develop their knowledge of all four operations (specifically multiplication and division).  

    Sound continues to be the focus in Science lessons and this week we have concentrated on pitches (high and low).

    In Music, the children have developed their knowledge of the Ukulele.

The excitement continues (07.05.21) 

 

     It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. The children have been up to all kinds of activities.

     In Maths, we have continued to focus on all four operations (specifically multiplication). The children have also written their newspaper reports in English. Science lessons have focussed on sound. In today’s lesson, the children investigated how sound travels through a string telephone as well as solids, liquids and gases.

What an exciting week! (30.04.21)

 

The excitement has continued in 4S. The children have been up to so many different things. In History, they have been learning about Bournville and the local area. In Science, the children continued to learn about vibration and sound through practical investigations. We also had a very special Physical Education lesson this week, which the children really enjoyed. Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everybody.

    What an exciting week it has been in 4S. The children have been up to lots of fun activities. In Science, they have been exploring how sound is made through vibrations.

Another Great Week- 01.04.21

It has been another exciting week in 4S. The children have been learning about the digestive system in Science. In DT, they have been finishing off their textiles project. The children have also had the opportunity to taste different Greek foods and describe them.

Another exciting week- 26.03.21

 

It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. The children have been finding out about the impact of fizzy drinks on teeth. Today, we concluded our results.

In DT, the children have almost finished their cushions. They have been working hard on different types of stitching. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

   It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. The children have been learning about trading during Ancient Greek times as well as taking part in a scientific investigation focussing on the impact of different drinks on teeth.

It has been a fantastic week in 4S. The children have worked so hard and everybody is happy to be back in the classroom. Here are some pictures for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely and well deserved rest everybody.

   It has been a fantastic week. All of the children have worked so hard. 

   I would like to wish everybody in 4S a very ‘Merry Christmas’ and a wonderful ‘New Year!’ Please stay safe, look after each other!

The excitement continues (11.12.20)

 

    It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. In English lessons, the children have continued to focus on persuasive language and have been able to create a persuasive leaflet.

    In addition to this, the children have worked hard in Maths lessons in order to improve their understanding of multiplication and division.

    In History, the children have compared one time period to another (Romans and The Stone Age). So much has been going on!!! Have a lovely weekend everybody!

     The excitement has continued this week in 4S. The children have been learning about persuasive language in English lessons.       In Maths lessons, the children have continued to develop their knowledge of multiplication and division.

     As part of our states of matter work, the children have been melting chocolate in Science lessons. As a class, we discussed which chocolate melted the quickest and why.

     Design and Technology has involved the children continuing to focus on lever and linkage mechanisms.

The Excitement Continues (27.11.20)

 

    It has been a fun and exciting week in 4S. In Design and Technology, the children have been learning about lever and linkage mechanisms and have now began prototyping their designs. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

A recipe for success! (20.11.20)

 

     This week, the children made 'Roman Honey Cakes'. As a class, we measured out the ingredients and then the children placed them into the mixing bowls. Milk was added to the mixtures, then the ingredients were mixed together.

     From this mixture of ingredients, the children made a ball each that was then placed onto a baking tray. The mixture went into the oven for 30 minutes and then honey was drizzled on top of their cakes. All cakes were also served with apricots to make the dish more authentically Roman. Well done everybody!

Exciting Times 13.11.20

 

   It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. The children have been researching ‘British Wildlife’ in preparation for writing a non-chronological report.

   In Maths, the children have focussed on length (mm, cm and km). In addition to this, the children have also enjoyed learning about the different groups of people that lived in Roman Britain. So much has gone on!

An exciting return! (06.11.20)

 

What an exciting week it has been. In English lessons, the children have been practising their letter writing skills and in Maths lessons the children have continued to improve their subtraction skills.

 

I am so proud of all of the children. Their behaviour has been brilliant and they have all settled back into their learning well. Well done everybody, a fantastic effort! Enjoy the weekend!

Home Learning (20.10.20)

 

Hello Year 4 parents and children. Children have been sent home today with a Purple Mash login. Work will be set on Purple Mash for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please use your login details to access this work. Children will be able to complete one English, Maths, Reading and wider curriculum activity each day.

    It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. In our Art and Design lesson, the children have started producing their still life work ready to paint next week. Here are some photographs for you all to enjoy.

The excitement continues (09.10.20)

 

   What an exciting week it has been in 4S. The children have been writing their descriptions in English lessons and in Maths lessons the children are focussing on addition skills.

   In history, the children have started to research Boudicca and in Geography they have focussed on mountains and hills and how these can be identified on maps. So much has happened!

    The excitement continues in 4S. Over the past few weeks, we have been conducting a scientific investigation into germination. In today’s Science lesson, the children recorded their observations and found that plants needed light, water, warmth, nutrients, air and space in order to grow properly.

   So many exciting things have happened this week. The children continue to learn place value skills and have been focussing on 1000 more and less than a number.

   Within English lessons, the children have been producing a descriptive piece of writing, ensuring that they include fronted adverbials and lots of other features. 

   In Science lessons the children have focussed on water transportation, exploring how water travels through the tubes of a stem.

The excitement continues! (18.09.20)

 

   It has been yet another exciting week in 4S. The children have been working hard in Maths lessons learning their place value skills. In English lessons, the children have been improving their sentences through the use of conjunctions, fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases.

   The children have enjoyed learning about Julius Caesar this week and continue to enjoy learning about plants in Science. Such a busy week with so much going on! Have a lovely weekend everybody!

11.09.20- What an exciting week!

 

It has been a very exciting first full week back in 4S. The children have been learning lots of skills in English and Maths lessons. In Science, the children have focussed on germination and the different types of conditions that plants need to grow. We have focussed on the Romans in History lessons as well as different geographical skills in Geography. Well done to all of the children for being so fantastic this week. Welcome back everybody! It seems incredible that we have already finished our first week back. I am so proud of the way that all of you have coped during this time. You have all worked so hard in your Jigsaw lessons and have been able to contribute well towards all discussions.
